YouTubeKnits

I was knitting. YouTube was there. Two worlds collided.

youtubeknits:

Here is the full ‘Yogbabby’ set before I give it to its tiny (as yet unborn) recipient.

The baby for whom I made these was born today. Hooray!
(There probably won’t be any photos for a while yet, though- babby needs to grow a bit before she’ll fit into any of these!)

It would appear that Dream in Color posted my Sapling Hat (which uses Dream in Color yarn) on their official Facebook page.
Thanks for the support, guys! Your yarn is fantastic.

My Patterns- Fair Use Information

Recently, I received a very thoughtful message from someone who asked if she was able to sell items made from one of my patterns. The answer to this question is no: my patterns are released under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial ShareAlike License, meaning that they cannot be used for any commercial purpose. For clarity, here’s a brief guideline for those who wish to use my patterns.

You are permitted to:

  • Make objects from my patterns
  • Give objects made from my patterns to friends or to charity
  • Distribute copies of my patterns
  • Alter, adapt, or change the pattern as you see fit, and publish the alterations

You are not permitted to:

  • Do any of the above for any kind of monetary compensation
  • Remove the Non-Commercial ShareAlike License attribution from any adaptations you publish of my patterns (the ‘ShareAlike’ part of the license means that any subsequent pattern you release based on my material must also be made available for free).
  • Fail to credit me as the original designer

I really want people to use and enjoy my patterns, but please: don’t sell anything associated with them. I receive no profit from publishing these, and it is poor thanks for someone else to profit from what I provide for free.

If you have any questions regarding the use of my patterns, please don’t hesitate to ask!

A Teutomic Tale

This blog is known more for knitting than for contributions to fan fiction, but I simply couldn’t bear the thought of Teutom (the best ship) going unrepresented in the Yogsfan Fiction Contest. To that end, please consider this humble epic poem. (I threw the word ‘knit’ in there to make it blog-relevant). Enjoy!

Category: Comedy

Summary: Both Tom and Teutron hasten for to save
Their crustaceous infant from an early grave.

In stark contrast to the hat I made earlier, this is the hat I completed on my way home last night.
It’s a version of ‘An Unoriginal Hat' (modified to cope with a larger gauge) and damn, is it chunky. Cold breezes have no chance around this sucker.
That said, if you happen to see a grown woman walking around with what appears to be a blue and brown tea cozy on her head, say ‘hi’ because it’s probably me.

Anonymous asked:

I don't know much about knitting and stuff like that, so this may sound INCREDIBLY stupid, but, can you do some of your stuff by doing crochet?

My patterns as they are currently written wouldn’t work in crochet, but I’m sure they could be converted to crochet! Unfortunately, since I myself don’t crochet, I have no idea how to accomplish this.

Crocheters! I hereby grant you complete permission to adapt/rewrite my patterns as you see fit (provided you don’t try to make a monetary profit from the patterns/finished objects).

Anonymous asked:

Are you also planning on killing vampires with those new needles? They are spikey enough I think. (yes from now on you are a vampire slayer(in my head(maybe)))

I was walking through a shop today and the ‘Angel’ theme music came on over the speakers, so I’ll take that as a sign. (It was before I bought the needles though… maybe it was foreshadowing?)

I did it mum!

You guys did it, really. Thanks so much. I sincerely appreciate the presence of every single one of you (and am still utterly boggled that you’re all here).

I salute you! (with these knitting needles I bought today)

For those of you wondering, these are US#50 / 25mm needles. I have no idea what I’ll make with these, but vampires shall fear me.

I’m away from home for a few days and needed a travel project. Toys aren’t so good for this (stuffing is a pain to lug around) so I made this hat. Pattern is ‘Fuego Hat’ by Justyna Lorkowska.
(I figured I should probably give my previous post a bit of context).
